Dr. 东修 李 is an infectious disease doctor who specializes in managing infections related to solid organ transplant surgeries as well as blood cancers. He also provides primary care for patients living with HIV, including those who have undergone organ transplantation.

In research, 李 has investigated how to improve organ transplants for patients living with HIV. He is interested in boosting the safety of transplantation by reducing the occurrence of disease transmission from organ donors to recipients.

李 earned his medical degree at Hanyang University in South Korea. He completed a residency in internal medicine and a fellowship in infectious diseases at Drexel University. Prior to joining UCSF, he worked as an infectious disease specialist at Drexel, caring for transplant patients and directing the school's infectious diseases fellowship program.

    The team listened intently and understood the pain I was in.

    Friendly and explained things in a clear manner. Listened to my concerns about taking Valtrex everyday and modified his suggested treatment of herpes outbreaks accordingly. Was frustrating he had no idea of what might be causing my itching chills fatigue etc but understand there isn't always a medical answer to what causes issues. Quick to follow up with answers to questions I asked through My Chart.
